Need help with RODI unit

It's come time to change a few filters on our RODI unit and add/change a few things to it. Problem is, we had our builders plumber install the thing and now we really don't have a clue what goes where
I bought the stuff from the Filter Guys and they have been really helpful. They recommended replacing my horizontal DI canister with a vertical one, but the old one has an extra tube coming out of it that the new one doesn't seem to have. We have a 5 stage unit and the DI resin really needs changing as I'm getting phosphates.......... anybody have any advice?!

Ok so your Di is piggybacked on your ro membrane? There should only be 2 holes on each staqe, 1 in and 1 out. You should have your tap line go to your sediment, then it should be directly connected to your carbon then to your RO membrane which has a waste line and another line that goes to your DI. Does this look right? If you have a pressure guage the line might be teed before the ro membrane but there shouldn't be any cartridge with 3 lines.

phishcrazee - Would it help if I emailed to you a plumbing diagram? We do a steady flow of business re-plumbing those ebay units.

phishcrazee If I can help let me know Here are some drawings to look at. Your old DI should only have one line and out you may be confusing it with your membrane housing.

I probably am, why don't these things come labeled?! I would say mine looks most like the diagram with the storage tank, but mine has this green cylinder that's about an inch and a half in diameter that sits with the thing I thought was the DI and lies horizontal. It says "Taste and Odor Reduction and then there is a tube that says it goes to the faucet. Mine has the 1,2,3 stages, but then it's got the 2 horizontal things on top that I'm not sure what they are............:? I guess the white one must be the RO membrane. I bought the vertical DI thing, where does that fit into my set-up if I don't already have a DI unit?

Well now, that's an interesting configuration - you're missing a metal bracket - whcih forms the structural "spine" of the entire set up.

The green cartridge is GAC - granular activated carbon.
