my small xenia closed up afew days ago and i dont know what to do. it was doing great and all of a sudden its closed and not pulsing. every once in a while i see the branches open a little but not like it was . its not white or dying yet but it does'nt look good.

i did a 20%w/c and tested the parameters.
all seemed good.
SG 1.024, ph 8.2, amonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10. phos under .2, calcium 440, alk 13 dkh.
any body know what i should do next to prevent it from wasting away. any advise is greatly appreciated

I have an Anthelia that has closed up not slimy or discolored just a large circular patch in center of colony deflated 2 days now ,,,
is this normal??

Its a fairly new tank..... I have been out of the hobby for a few years and started up a 70 gal + refium etc... lots of light
but the tempurature has crept up past 85 I didnt notice it .....
back to 81 now... stick on thermometers dont work well on acrilic sump plastic act as insulator..........

thanks all for the reply but im still confused.
alk. is too high ? most books i have read state alk shoud be between 8 and 15 dkh. ( i follow a set up in "saltwater reef atlas")
i have always had a alk reading of 12-13dkh in this tank and no sudden changes that i can tell. i test twice a week since its a 20 gal. and do 20%water changes every 2 weeks. all other corals are doing fine and growing nicely.
im still perplexed........ to bring alk down just water changes?
thanks for the help

I had my alk dkh up to 11 once, I'll never do it again...it melted my pom pom, and caused my pulsing to close up for weeks....7-8 is what you want
