Need Help

I have had my RBTA for a year now and it keeps getting smaller. When I first got it, it was approximately 3-4 in. in diameter. Over the last few months it has gone behind the rocks or under them for a couple of weeks at a time. Every time it comes back to its favorite rock it is smaller. It is being hosted by a Maroon Clown. Today, I notice as he resurfaced from his deep depths he is about the size of a quarter. It does not appear to have split. I don't see any signs of any other anemones. I was feeding it pieces of silversides but the maroon would get real aggressive with the food and eat it himself or shove it to the mouth of the anemone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John

How big is the Maroon clown? I have read other posts on here saying that it might be too aggressive for the anemone which is why it's trying to hide. When it comes out and appears smaller, does it look like something was nibbling at it or anything? Maybe if you can, cover it with a strawberry basket or something to it get some protection for a couple days from the Maroon.

The Clown is about 1 1/2 inches and I don't really see any signs of anything different visually. I am going to trade the clown in at the lfs for a perc clown anyway so maybe that will help. I knew when buying the Maroon it was a more aggressive than other clowns but not to this extent. The anemones mouth looks normal (not gapping) nice and tight. The tips and outer surface have always appeared to be ok. I have great lighting 400w MH 20K XM with 392w PC w/antics. So I know he is getting plenty of light when he is out. His rock is at mid tank. I don't think it is too high up to the light and he probablly would not return to that rock. I just don't know. HUMMMMMM ?
