I got out of the hobby a year ago after my father passed away. I've been debating on whether or not to set up a new tank. I have two tanks in mind the Red Sea reefer 170 and the innovative marine Lagoon 25. My goal is full sps with an emphasis on less is more.
When looking at the two tanks, went and looked at store in person today, I like each for different reasons. I love the Red Sea tank for the sump and herbie overflow. It reminds me of a 50-60g cube. The overflow was a lot smaller than I expected too. The Red Sea allows for more skimmer options as well as more room depth wise and height wise.
The IM 25 is a beautiful tank and is an all in one package for my home office. It would be nice to not have a sump for a change. The only drawback I see is losing space depth wise because of the behind the tank sump, if you can call t that. I also don't like how skimmer options are so limited.
I would like to return to MH or go with a single Led fixture like the XR30pro. A single light is all I'm after. I would also love to stick with 1 ph in tank like the mp10. If more flow was demanded down the road another mp10 could be added.
With all that I'm looking at what do you all recommend between the two options? Red Sea 170 or IM Lagoon 25?
