i have a small frag of purple people eaters. Some of the polyps were acting funny a few weeks ago like in this pic, the poylps were folded down.
now the polyps are starting to close and there is a white film over them, any thoughts? i really dont want to lose these.

here is a pic of them now, i took them out to inspect them and didnt see anything crawling on them. i ****ed them off so there not quite as bad as the pic, but they you can see the white film on them and they are getting worse.

I hope you don't lose them. Might want to try to dip them so they don't die.

My PEs died or closed up and have yet to open. Its been over 1 week, so I just finally dipped them to see. It can't turn since most of the colony has closed up. :(

I'm sure you paid a lot for this frag so rather then give you advice on treating the colony or the tank, I'll tell you this... If you have a friend with a well established (healthy) reef tank and keeps zoas or paly's ask him/her to take them for you. Just to nurse them back to life.

Just double check for pests before you do. A dip might be in order before they go in your friends tank.

Then it's time to start troubleshooting your tank. Start with testing your water. I'm sure water changes would next in line.

i have several colonies and other types of corals also and everything is doing fine, this is the only coral in the tank that is having issues.

I have found that my PPE's are very sensitive to water quality. They will essentially begin to close up or not fully expand. I change water, bam twenty-four hours later...theylook great!

This looks to be a small enough colony that it would be difficult to not notice a predator, so I would not dip them. Doing so may stress them out further. What are your water parameters? You may have a water quality issue that can be easily corrected.
