Can anyone help me I.D. and how to get rid of it?!?!?!!

Ok so i thought direct flow of it would just blow it away, and it did for a second and its been like two days and still no change... Can someone help me before this problem spreads out of control? thanks...

Red slime or cyanobacteria; a photosynthetic bacteria, cousin to algae.
It is normally not eaten.
Usually an indication of excessive nutrient levels.
To avoid have 10-12 dKH, high ORP (over 350mv), low nitrates <10 ppm, saturated oxygen levels and good circulation, low phosphates.
Also have a well functioning skimmer and cool coloured lights (replaced as appropriately).
Are you abusing feeding? Pouring any frozen food liquid into the tank?
Are you dosing kalk? Kalk with maintain a high alkalinity and will precipitate phosphates.
Filtering carbon can help water quality, if you already are try changing it weekly.

Of course I have lots of this stuff too.. haha.. I have a very yellowish 400w MH lamp right now !#$@ And I've tossed the skimmer. But thats me and I'm working on it. Good luck!

Oh, and dont just shoot it off with a turkey baster as it will just spread. siphoning it off may help but the easiest way is through nutrient control.
What are your nutrient levels? Phosphate, nitrite, nitrate and ammonia.
