need ID on this coral please

Hi folks,

Picked up some corals at a fire sale today, couple things got thrown in, this is one. The owner called it and I quote "Aussie??"

I have looked around and thought maybe Aussie Brain....but it doesn't really look like that. I need to know what it is due to light requirements. right now it is fairly high, maybe I need to move it down, change the flow, etc.

Looks like it could be an Leptastrea.. probably L. purpurea.
What is your lighting?

I would make sure not too blast this sp. with too much light. They do well in moderate light zones.

Porites sp.? Perhaps the polyps are too small though. It does look like Leptastrea too.

definitely not goniopora. the more pics i see the more it looks like a leptastrea, i am going to go with that and move it towards the bottom. thanks folks!

Sorry, but that means nothing. :worried: Corallite structure should be the determining factor.
At first I thought it looked Goniopora like. It sounds like you have ruled that out though..
