I bought a small piece of rock with about 10-12 mushrooms on it from my LFS about 2 years ago. I still don't know what they are. Since I've had them, they open and close beautifully every day, but I was hoping they would spread and populate the tank. The only activity they've ever had is one of the mushrooms jumped off and has floated around the tank a bit (as you can see in the second picture) and is now just settled to the bottom on my live sand. This happened about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas about what's going on? :fun5:

This is a pic of them on the day I bought them. They shriveled up and turned bright green for the car ride home.

Today what they look like. They get pretty huge and brown during the day. (the mushroom on the bottom rock is the jumper)

It probably got to crowded on the rock so it left for a place where it would have more room to spread out.

It may also be a survival technique. Sometimes mushrooms may bail out in hopes of ending up in a more desireable location as a last ditch effort. The fact that they went from colorful to brown makes me wonder if they are getting the light and water quality they need. Even them looking larger may be the shroom spreading out to capture as much light as possible. I'm not trying to be negative. I just want to throw out other possibilities. Without knowing more it is just guessing.
What kind of light and flow are these getting? What are your water parameters?
