I have a small order of red banded trochus coming in. I already have one, and another 10 on the way for my two small tanks (25g and 20g).
I want to be able to reproduce these in captivity, but I have a pretty powerful DIY protein skimmer on these two tanks. I am afraid the skimmer will skim out the water-borne larvae.
Is it likely that all of the trochus larvae would be skimmed out, or is it likely that some would survive? I'm not trying to reproduce them in mass numbers; only a self-sustaining algae cleanup crew.
Anyone have any experience setting these little fellows up in, say, a separate 10g "fuge" type tank and letting algae grow rampant for them, specifically for breeding purposes?
Thanks!
Matt
