need input on powerheads

I am thinking of using more flow and starting with some SPS. My 125 RR has 2 return pumps that with the 6' lift both put out +/-1000gph each. A Rio 3600 and a Mag-Drive 1200. I have 2 PHs one has 300 gph and the other maybe 200 gph. I was thinking adding 2-3 more, and using my wave timer or whateveritscalled thing that starts Phs at different times. I have one but never used it. With the power cost thing, I know they dont use much, but it all adds up, I wanted to use an efficient but powerful PH- maybe 300 gph or so. Also I was thinking of maybe a rotating thing so it is dispersed over a bigger area instead of just a straight stream. Let me know your ideas and thoughts. Steve. PS after talking to lookout88 about his Kalk reactor and his sucess with it, I thought that would be great, and not having to mix up some all the time, plus keep the sump constant at the same time. I have an old Aqua Medic calcium reactor and was thinking it would be good. It square maybe 6"x6"x24". I could use a float switch to pull water from a big container of RO water and have the calcium reactor mixing pump plugged into the wavemaker, or maybe someother way of keeping it stirred up. Maybe just a real small mini pump. Then just dribble back into the sump. Thoughts?

I'm partial to Maxijet powerheads. Instead of the wavemaker consider a couple of Hydors. Put one on a 900 and one on a 1200 and the flow will vary as they'll rotate at different speeds. With your other flow that should be all you need.

jmo,

I was a less is more person ... just my .02 Tunze with a controller... even better
go with two vary the pulse time to get random flow

sorry I couldn't make the meeting last month

For the cost you can't beat the Hydor, however I have had the gears strip on a few when a big snail decides to go for a ride.
I also have Tunzes, they are the ultimate solution but the cost is crazy.
