Ok, so I'm plumbing a system where the drain has to drop down to about 20" and then go back up 6" in order to drain into the sump...does anyone know if the back pressure the drained water will encounter would be a major issue?
I will be draining about 1800 gph through 2" pipe using the herbie method at the overflow...
anyone ever done this?

here is a quick sketch I made...

I'm assuming that as long as your height in the aquarium is higher than the sump , the water should get pushed into without it trying to backfeed. I would try that in a smaller scale to see what happens, maybe use a couple plastic bin containers and set one higher than the other and plumb a pipe into the bottom, fill it up with water and see what happens.
I'd try that before I thought I would have a bunch of water on my floor.
