Need opinions on what this is...

I recently had to move my juvenile Imperator to my QT system because he was beating up on my Regal angel that is 6 times his size. It has been 2 days now and I see that he is developing some cloudy areas near his dorsal fin.

The QT is in full hypo right now, only a little below the SG he was at previously in my acclimation system/secondary quarantine.

I'm thinking it is bacterial or fungal. At first I thought it might be amyloodinium but the fact that he is in full hypo makes me second guess that.

Treatment suggestions are welcomed, please.

Also, those tiny specks you see on the body and caudal fin is just sand, and yes, I am sure. :)

If you suspect amyloodinium, why do you think that hypo will solve that problem? Picture not definitive.

The fish has already been in hypo for an extended period and was coming out if it. It has also gone through a CP treatment. Those are the primary factors that lead me to believe it is something other than amyloodinium.

CP for 14 days would knock out amyloodinium.

No chromis in the system at all, or any of my systems for that matter. lol

He's already gone through a 21 day CP treatment which was done for prophylactic reasons. I had ich in a neighboring QT system so I treated the adjacent system as well because I couldn't be sure that there was no cross-contamination prior to noticing the ich in the other system.

I don't want to treat for oodinium and lose this fish to an infection of a completely different nature. The Regal developed lymphocystis probably due to stress from this guy abusing him. The Regal has gotten over it now, but has had no other symptoms or signs of illness. There is a possibility this is lympho at an early stage brought on by netting and moving him.

I know from experience not to use CP in hyposaline conditions. The combined stress has proven to be too much for angels. It is possible that putting him in the other system introduced him to something that he might not have previously had. There are too many possibilities at this point. I'm going to try doing a bath in malachite green followed by a bath in methylene blue and see what happens.

Just did a formalin bath for 45 minutes. After the formalin bath whatever it was has all fallen off. This makes me feel like it was amyloodinium after all.
