8Ball made me a CA reactor out of a whole house filter a few years ago based on a design similar to this. With the filter and all the fittings the cost of the reactor came to something close to 80 or 90 dollars. I have a small Eheim pump circulating the water through it. It works really well. It's totally over-sized for my 120. I have to keep my CO2 bubble rate low enough so that carbonate hardness does not go off scale :eek2: .
Thanks again for the frags!! They are doing great. Does Will still make stuff for people? I will have to see if he would help me. I'm not mechanically inclined at all!!
You are welcome, Dave. I am glad that they are doing well. Will seems to be quite busy, but he still helps me out here and there periodically. You know how it is with a little baby .
Either one of those links above would do the trick. Only thing needed is some plumbing and just tapping a few holes in pvc. Most other plans require working with acrylic which isn't that hard but is much more involved. H@rry has a Reactor he built that is square. It seems to work well for him. No major reason a reactor Has to be round. Round probably helps with flow a little.
I do still build stuff for others from time to time. Like Tomoko said though since we had the baby I have a little more trouble getting out to the shop to piddle. Replacing our 190 with a 300 cut into my play time as well lol. If you don't think you can build one though I can look and see what it would cost for me to do it. I'd have to check on material costs. If you do try and build one and run into problems I'd be happy to help if I can.
BTW I just noticed the one Tomoko linked to is a little different. The way they built theirs you don't have to tap any of the fittings. Don't know If I would want the in and out so close together though.
