need pump help

i have a mag 9.5 i just traded out for a mag 5 on my return cuz it was heating up the water to much i dropped 1 degree by trading out the pumps

Is there a more efficient pump heat and electricity wise?

I have the 9.5 too, I was told the eheims could be less heat contributors...

I don't know why no one uses ViaAqua pumps. My VA2600 outputs 740gph @ 0' using 46w. At the head pressure that I'm running, I think I get about 350-400gph from it.

They're only about $35 online, and they are pretty reliable. I have honestly never cleaned mine once in the last 8 months and it still restarts perfectly every time I turn it off. I also have mine restricted via a ball valve which is supposed to kill some pumps from the excess pressure, but I haven't gotten so much as a hum out of it. Which brings up my favorite point about it... its damn near silent.

i hear that red dragons are one of the best but i looks and wow they have the best price to like 600 for the smallest one that does like 1200gph but i hear they are silent and use very little power and i little out of my league at the moment
