Need quick help, acclimating a hermit with something on his shell

What is this? Potentially harmful to the tank? Didn't notice it in the store.

Its a barnacle. It may or may not be alive.

That shots aren't clear enough to be 100%, but it looks like a barnacle.

If it's alive, could it be bad in any way?

It does look like a barnacle in real life but I didn't want to assume, also I didn't know what potential negative impact it could have.

Barnacles are simple filter feeder's, can't hurt a thing. Though they don't typically get enough food in a tank to survive for long.

If it's hard it's probably a barnacle (does have a barnacle look). If it's soft it could be a contracted anemone. Very common on hermits in the wild.

+1 on barnacle...and as bill said, they usually dont last long.
