Need Quick Sick Fish Oppinion

I have a hippo tang that has been fighting ich since I got her. She always got over it quick (1 or 2 days) but it would return in a week. The other fish were not bothered by it. It has been a week since her last outbreak and now she has it and cant swim. She looks emaciated and is struggling to breath. The big question is should I remove her now before her last breath or is there a slight chance for survival???

No chance of survival on this one. I'm sorry to say. Ick will actually attack the gills of fish. Once it starts gasping all hope is lost. At least this is my experience w/ it. The damaged gills will never recover.

I've been wrong before though. I'd let it go until it stopped flopping around. It won't hurt your tank if you pull it out once its dead.

sounds like it never really got rid of it. If it is as bad as it sounds I would pull the fish out place in a bag and put it in the freezer. If you have a hospital tank I would move it there if you want to try to save it. the longer it is in your display the more risk to your other fish.

I don't have a hospital tank. What would putting it in a bag in the freezer do? Also, I've just spotted some spots on the clown and carpenter wrasse.

That is why you need to have one available to you. Get rid of the Hippo and keep a close eye on the others.

Any other fish in the tank are also now infected and you need to treat them. You really would do well to set up a quarantine tank. Read up on hyposalinity. The symptoms may appear to come and go but this is the life cycle of the parasite. You may well lose the rest of your fish in a similar fashion if you don't intervene

You really need to catch the other fish and put them in QT and use hypo to kill the ich. 4-6 week minimum. The other fish may not appear to have ich but they probably do. Ich mostly affects the gills and even though you can't see it on some fish, chances are ich is already living in the gills and hurting the fish.
