Hello,
I am new to saltwater aquariums, and after realizing I was doin many things wrong and too quickly, I decided to take back all my livestock. I have a few questions...
Here is my first question, my setup is an acrylic tank of about 50 gallons (it was given to me by my neighbor who had forgotten) but after putting live sand in about 2 inches thick (which I reduced to about an inch) I hand counted 41 gallons. The tank has two 4 by 4 tubes connecting each of the sides together. I have about 90 pounds of LR. I have plenty of water flow with two powerheads, and a filter on Each side. I do understand I am supposed to remove some rock, but since I have no filters that actually filter I put a few ledges comming of the rocks, there is space to grow things I made sure. Here's my question I would like to do an indo-pacific reef tank, with the plain orange clownfish. Over each tank (which is about 17-19 in he's deep) I have a coralife 36 watt light. Is that enough lighting to suupory anenomes? I am thinking about doing a 150 watt metal halide light above each side, but I don't know if it's too much lighting. So here's my question, what fish are native to the indo-pacific region. I would also like an anenome that a normal (finding nemo, to make the description easy) clownfish can host in, please give me. List of things that can survive in the lighting conditions I do have, maybe a fish of native fish, a lost of native corals that will survive and grow without problem under my current lighting conditions and a list of corals that survive under the 150 watt lighting conditions, I know some species might repeat. When I say corals I also mean invertabrates. I would like eveything to be native, I would like to create the natural habitat of the clownfish, with a whole reef. I know I'm asking a lot but even if it means giving me one fish or one coral/invertabrates that are native to the indo-pacific region that would be great! Please give me the name and maybe a picture of the species so I can do more research on it! I would really appreciate the help and my goal is to find things that will grow without problem in my current lighting conditions. Also, I would like to get a anenome that's beautiful, attatches quickly, and it good for beginners under my current lighting conditions. My tank is normally around 80 sometimes itl drop 1 degree while the lights are off but when they are on it doesn't really drop or rise and at night itls MAYBE drop a degree every two days. Also what chemicals should I add to get a lot of purple growing on my rocks, I use brightwell aquatics chemicals, but I don't have a test kit I do around a 20% water change every week until my tank becomes more stable. Thank-you for all of your help!
