Hey all,
I've got an odd problem that I wanted to get some help on. I build my own LED fixtures and I recently put some new violets on my current set-up and to make a long story short the 60 degree optics I put on them burned the tips on some of my SPS because I couldn't resist the urge of cranking up power level on the new leds. Now a few select pieces that had their tips burnt are getting brown algae growth where the tips were burned and started spreading from tip downards on my bali green slimer. Anyone have any suggestions on why thats happening and how to correct the problem?
I went ahead and broke the tips off that had the algae spreading. My params are stable, DKH 8.2, Ca 420, Mg 1450, SG 1.025, nutrients are pretty low since tank is only 3 months old and haven't stocked that many fish yet, plenty of flow in my 75g DT with 2 jeabo WP10s and 1 WP25.
ES-2 300g rated protein skimmer, BM dosing pumps, Tunze ATO, 2 media reactors running 1/2 cup of BRS rox carbon and 2 cups of BRS GFO, the flow is posted above, and my lighting is 2 DIY LED fixtures: each fixture has 16 royal blues, 7 neutral whites, 2 reds, 2 greens, 2 cyans, and 10 violets.
Fish list: 2 wyoming white clowns and 4 blue eyed cardinals.
