*I also have this in the SPS forum...just looking for as much info as possible*

After the new year I plan on setting up a total SPS 40 breeder...My budget will be $1000 bucks...I already have the stand it is a Oceanic stand that is for a 120g...I figure if I use this I can add a 3/4" top and with a little work I will have a stand big enough to keep all my equipment in.

I also have enough dry and cured rock for this project.

Now What I need is for you SPS guru's to tell me how to spend my $1000 to get everything I need to make my dream come true.

I am torn between running a single 250w radium or a 4 bulb t5 fixture...if you like the t5 idea what fixture would you go with?

next is circulation...I know I will hear Vortech as the number one choice but should I go with a single mp40 or 2 mp10's?

which skimmer?

I await your advice and suggestions.

at one point I had a 55 gallon that I could keep sps on the sand with a tek T5 light. the radium will be mor epleasing to your eye but be very carefull as 250 watts is a lot oflight for such a small and shallow tank. If I had a 40 breeder and was torn between the 2 vortechs I would get the 1 MP40, although I don't know if I could bring myself to spend that type of money on 1 pump. Skimmer will depend on how heavily you want to stock it. once again on a 40 breeder you can only fit but so many fish in it and you have way too many choices on skimmer than I can list.

mrstihl...thanks for the input...I know what you mean about the prices of the Vortechs...The only real reason I am considering them is just to say I have a highend piece of equipment...lol.....I just saw where bigal's is have a 50% off sale on koralia evo's so I may just go that route and save $200 + bucks..I really like the t5 look but I gots to have my halide shimmer.

I like the bubble magus skimmers and have also heard great things about the 2nd gen Eshopps skimmers...both cheaper skimmer but well worth the money...I also saw a new skimmer I think Aqua Excel.for about the same and it's a cone skimmer...so many choices.
