Need Some help

Hi
I have a yellow tang. On its top fin there is a white thing growing which is attached directly to the finn. It is not stringy but more like a white puff of something which also has a tint of black on it

it has not spread

any ideas on what it is and how to treat it?

Have you ever seen a picture of Lymphocystis? It sounds like a possibility based upon your description.

This is what i found - t appears as a small white tuft of cotton ball like growths on a fin or body part - i looked at some pics of it and it does look like this. Are there treatments for this? Are they reef and invert safe?

If it is Lymphocystis, there is no treatment because it is a virus. The best we can do is provide optimum water quality, diet, and some supplements like Vita-Chem, Selcon, garlic extract, and/or beta glucan and hope for the best.

well I am happy to say that this morning i found that the white puffy thing that was on the tang is now gone. I have been watching him and there is not a trace of it on him anymore..that was fast - hah
