need some info on this clam please

How long do they live..?

No clue, but I can tell you most hobbiest I know never had a flame scallop survive a year in their system while trying to keep it alive.. you did it without knowing what it even was!

Picture slightly less difficult than a basket starfish..

If it's happy, do not touch. Let it do whatever works for it.
Never heard of them living for long. You must have something unusual... Maybe a certain species of copepod that it likes.
How big is the tank?
What are you feeding the fish?

125g long
I checked my log when I put it in ... was july 19th 2013....so just over a year

feed fish aquadine flake food
mysis shrimp
brine shrimp
reef plankton
mussel

Bro, he's had it for a year lol. As noted, they are difficult to keep, because of the feeding requirements (they can only use particles of a very specific size). The Limidae are actually clams, not scallops. They are called scallops but are actually File Clams. Tridacnids are also clams, but aren't very closely related to the majority of true clams (and neither are limids, for that matter).

Cheers,

Don

I have a flame scallop. Its been gong strong for a few months. It occasionally shoots itself acrossed the tank its a pretty cool site. I can totally see it getting stuck at somepoint tho.

here are some updated pics...look to be doing much better...going on a year and a half.
