Well guys I need to find some people near Alamogordo thats into reefin. My tank turned 6 mo on Sept 25. I want to start lookin at stuff to put in there with my little fishies. I havent been on here much lately cause I had knee surgery and I had to send my comp in to be fixed lol. Lame excuse but hey. I have been watchin my tests and they havent changed in about a month. I have a ton of snails in there though. Dont ask me what kind cause I dont know they just showed up one day. Also if anyone around here wants some give me a holler there cool lookin but theres too many lol. I have some other stuff startin to grow that pink in there. They dont look like caralline though. Their cool lookin though lol. I have PC lights in there right now w/ actinics so I know i need to get somethings that like the lower lights but I want color in there too. I will not go to they LFS here in town cause its gone down hill big time. They even have flatworms and are still sellin the corals they have. I dont even get my fish food there anymore. I get it online now. Atleast now I know that my fish will eat cause I can get the food and not have to starve for a bit till the store gets it in. Sorry rant fit over. So give me some ideas on what I should get in this tank to start off. I know for sure that 1 thing I will get after I get better lights in there is a RBTA. I just ogtta wait till I can get the lights. Thank you so much in advance for advice. I will yammer at ya later.

I have really crummy lights right now that are PCs. I am looking at the Current USA Sundial T5s. They have lunar and T5s in 1. It also has 2 timers on it to make the dawn to dusk lighting. It has individual reflectors also. The one I have right now is an Oddisea (dont yell at me I know their crappy lol) PCs. They dont put nearly enough light in there. I got some corals from a guy in Alamogordo that has some he was gettin rid of that were easy lower light corals. He gave me a Kenya tree, a xenia, and some mushrooms. Didnt pay that much for them either. They are all at the top of my rocks closer to the lights and are all open and doing great. I put some cyclopeez in with my regular fish food and the xenia went bolistic for it lol. I thought the thing was gonna start swimmin. They are open right now and if I can get a pic op them I will. I just gotta charge my camera lol. Thank you for your interest.

I have been running VHO's for years, but like you I think it might be time for t-5. I’m running an icecap 660 and I have read it will run (I think) 3 t-5's. I know the wattage is less with the t5 but the PAR seems to be better. Has your Kenya tree started to drop its limbs?? Mine does and at 1st I was like this is great I’m going to have these things everywhere. Now I’m like damn it these things are everywhere!! Last night I discovered my xenia do not like temps above 82. Since moving from so-cal 2 months ago I haven’t ran my chiller. (big cost savings) but I noticed the xenia last night stopped clapping and turned into little mounds. I dropped the temp back to 80 and they were off and running again. People say they wont directly feed but I have found the opposite. I will spread "Coral frenzy" over them and they love it!!

No it hasnt started droppin anything. All of the corals I got are open and looking great. When I feed my fish I put a little Cyclops eeze in the food and my xenias love the mysis, and cyclops big time. When I feed the fish I have to do it from the opposite side from where the xenia is or the fish dont get to eat lol. I also put some on the otherside and its getting plenty of food so I dont have to worry about anyone starving in the tank right now. Everything is open and bright and happy but I think they would all be happier with more lighting. I am going to order the new light probably next month.
