Need some macro lense suggestions for a Nikkon D40

I am soon in the market for a beginers macro lense for my Nikkon D40 DSLR.

I know you get what you pay for and at this present time don't want to drop $700 on a macro lense.

Can one suggest a good size in MM for shooting macro. As long as it works on a D40 Auto focus does not concern me as I will be adjusting manually.

I am thinking about a 105mm lense? Too big or should I go 70-90mm?

My tank is a 75 gallon so front to back depth wise its not that big....

Thanks

The 105mm is a macro lens. Will allow you to focus closer and get more of the animal or coral in frame. Nikon does not make a 70-90 macro, I think they offer a 60 and 200mm...the 200mm is excellent but more expensive, I am unfamiliar with the 60mm.

Look at http://www.keh.com its a camera shop out of Atlanta and you can get the 105mm used for about 400.
