Need some skimmer advice for AquaC Remora

I'm not exactly sure how high or low the collection cup should be placed. Does anybody have any experience with this unit? I've tried high, low and in between. I'm not sure where to put it.

Also, I just added the surface skimmer option today. Hopefully tomorrow my water surface won't have that oily protein layer on it.

Thank you.

You just have to play with it and see how it comes out. I have the urchin but its basically the same. I have to adjust mine every once in a while to get it to work correctly.

I used to own the Remora. Let it break in for a week or so, then you could lower or raise the collection cup to fit your skimmate preference (wetter or dryer). It's tough to do this b4 the break in period.

When I set mine low, I would get a very wet skimmate, light green in color. However, as I raised the cc for drier skimmate, most of it collected in the neck of the cup and did not enter the cup. I don't know if I was doing something wrong, but I could not get any good amount of dry skimmate from the remora.

I've been adjusting my aqua c remora lately as well. I started off with the cup all the way down and it was producing way too much skimmate, very light brown and watery.
So, I moved it all the way up and it started pulling out just thick dark crud, but my water started to look cloudy and not as clean as before, so I moved the cup to about the center position. After one day, my water looks more clear and it didn't pull out too much, so It looks like the middle position is working for me as of now.

You're just going to have to tinker with it, because it will probably be different for everybody, depending on water quality, bioload, and aquarium size.

That is what I do with mine I was a lil disappointed with my surface skimmer box I need foam in my return for the micro-bubbles. I also used a dremmel and a barrel shaped cutting tool to make more slots for the water to overflow on the thin left hand side of the box.
