need some suggestions please

i am setting up a 25 gal 18"x18"x18" cube tank for nps. i am planning on keeping dendros, sun corals, tube anemones, and maybe some gorgans.

i plan on having constant feeding. i have the return going through a mini fridge with a bubble magus tripple doser feeding the return. it is hooked up to a 1000+ gal system that i am still working on. here is the build thread http://www.greateriowareefsociety.org/Forums/tabid/78/aft/26318/Default.aspx

my questions are

can you please recomend me a good magnetic stirrer?
what foods do you recomend me feeding through the doser and how much?

thank you

Not sure on the stirring. Interesting project.

Just wanted to point out that the dendros, sun corals & tube anenomes don't need constant feeding or planktonic sized foods. They're meat eaters & are happy with mysis, finely chopped raw shrimp, black worms etc. I own all of the above & they are easy to keep if fed well.

The NPS Gorgs would be a different story however.

If you're going to feed plankton sized dead foods like ouster eggs & zooplankton preparations, it's advisable to have good mechanical filtration and/or other export methods like WCs, a good PS etc. all figured out. Dead food decays quickly & low nutrients are essential to NPS Gorg survival as pest algaes & cyano will often grow on them like crazy, smothering their polyps, even in an otherwise spotless tank.

I have a tank with quite a few sun corals (i have a thread in this forum) and i have 2 gorgonians - a purple (frag) and red.

Sun Corals won't thrive just on constant feeding - they need to be target fed and with meaty items per Reef Frog. I don't think their nematocysts react to small (planktonic) foods.

I don't keep anemones in my tank (110g) because i'm afraid they will wander and sting my sun corals. I had a euphyillia kill a few heads before i moved it.

Can't help you with the stirring.

I have to say i am more of a fan of target feeding even for the gorgonians. Like Reef Frog says, the gorgonians are a challenge especially if you have low water volume. You will need a big skimmer to keep your water pristine.

As for food i use a mixture of reef roids and freeze dried cyclopeez and DT (separately). I also rely on fish poo.
