Need some suggestions

Hi all,

I'd like to have some suggestions about the project I would like to do.
I'm thinking about purshasing a 32"x32"x28" tank (~125G) with a 60G refugium.
What i would like to know is if the stocklist i'm thinking about is ok with such a tank :

- Gobiodon (2)
- Pterapogon kauderni (2)
- Randall's goby with alpheus (2)
- Blue mandarin
- Gulf Signal Blenny
- Ocellaris clowns (2)

- Eilb Dwarf Angel

If possible i'll really love add one or two surgeon fish but 32" seem to be quite to short for them ...
What would you think of adding :

- Kole Tang
- Yellow Tang

My wife would rather add an hippo tank instead but it seems to far from it's minimum requirements.

I hope you could give me some advice.
Thanks a lot.

Just forgot 2 fishes I added in the list

Thanks again for your help.

IMO & IME, 32" of swimming room isn't even half of what any tang needs. Tangs go nuts when they can't swim like they should, and that constant stress becomes aggression or just general poor health.

OK i'll forget the tang idea unless I could have enough to get a 6' tank.
What do you think of the remaining list :

- Gobiodon (2)
- Pterapogon kauderni (2)
- Randall's goby with alpheus shrimp(2)
- Blue mandarin
- Gulf Signal Blenny
- Ocellaris clowns (2)
- Blue Star Leopard Wrasse
- Royal Gramma
- Eilb's Dwarf Angel

and do you have any more advice on which fish could be added or should be removed ? I would like if possible another "big boy" bigger than 5".

Hi,

I've just been thinking about this list, what would you think of the list above adding a marin beta as a full stock list for a cubic 125G ?

Thanks

Tom

marine beta are basically a grouper with the temperament of a candy basslet. useless. Secondly, leopard wrasses are a very difficult species to keep, especially if you haven't even had a saltwater fish tank before. Same with the mandarin. I think i've got your fish vibe and here's an improved list which will look great and get along:
x1) Yellow clown goby (DO NOT keep in pairs! they will lay eggs on your coral)
x2) Court Jester Goby (cool fish, look great too)
x1) MacNeill's Assessor Basslet (despite being a basslet, these guys are peaceful)
x1) Yasha Shrimp Goby + x1) Red Pistol Shrimp
x1) Fathead Sunburst Anthias (very nice fish, fair well in community tanks)
x1) Malanurus Wrasse (even if you don't like the other fish, this one is great, it eats parasites and pests. plus it looks amazing)
