Need Suggestion for in sump return pump

Friend needs an new return pump for his tank. He is looking for 1300-1500 GPH. Since I am upgrading my return to a Maxi Jet 900 I have no experience to tell him what is good. So suggest away. Thanks

How big of a tank is he running? He may not want that much running through a sump and may just need a little helpful suggestions on pump size. You really only need to run the volume the skimmer feeds plus maybe 10% over that after figuring head loss. Leave the turnover rates to closed loops/powerheads, etc.

he set up is kind weird. it is a 36 x 36 tank with central overflow. His sump holds about 50 gallons. His skimmer is just a remora pro hang on. Rather funny set up but it works really well. Right now he is running Mag Drive 7 and was thinking about getting the mag drive 1200. He is thinking about plumbing in a squid and his head height is about 3 feet.

he could go all the way up to a mag 36 if he wanted but maybe T-off for a little different flow
