Ok guys, I'm pretty knew to reefing. I started in 2014 with a BioCube 14 and very quickly out grew it.

Fast forward 2 yrs, I'm now about to start a 40 breeder build. Coming from the AIO BioCube I am not super familiar with all the brands and pump sizes etc. it takes to run a bigger take.

I'm going to drill a 40 breeder but past that I really would like some good equipment suggestions. I also have some questions about dosing a bit down the road mainly in a tank that size could I get away with Klakwasser in the ATO as long as I don't go SPS crazy or should I go with a dosing pump system?

I'm in college but have a stable house and income so moving and what not won't be an issue and I'm in no rush. I want good equipment but I definitely can't go crazy with the cash. That being said....

I would love some recommendations on...

Internal overflow for the tank and drain set up... seems like Herbie method is the way to go?

Sump (definitely think I want a FUGE) DIY or looking at Eshopps adv100

LED Lighting for the main tank and fuge (Reasonable$$$)

Return pump and powerheads

Heater (neotherms?)

Skimmer

ATO (Tunze Osmolator?)

Controller

I set up a 40 breeder about a year ago. I'm using an R-200 Eshopps sump. It works great and I love the separate refugium. I'm using a JEBAO DCP-6500 Submersible pump which is plenty powerful enough and dead quiet. I bought a second one as a backup or for use on the next build. At $89 they are hard to beat. I'm using the Tunze Osmolator and 7.5g Mr Aqua for the ATO. I've not used a skimmer at all and have had very good SPS coral growth and water quality. I'm using an Orbit Marine light, not the pro version. I've been dosing with Kallwasser in the ATO but it makes a big mess and I just received a reactor for that today. Looking forward to cleaning out the ATO reservoir. I'm using a single MP 40 for circulation. I wish I'd have gone with two MP 10's.

Good luck with your build.
