I'm in the process of breaking down my 125g reef and am down to my last few inhabitants. One of which is a BTA. He's been with me for several months now and seems healthy and happy. (Doesn't move around, looks great, etc).
My question is around moving him to a temporary holding location for a few months. I've got to bring my 125 down to the ground and rebuild the ecosystem in a new 275g tank. I know that this won't be stable enough to house my anemone for a few months but am at a loss as to what to do. A few of the fish and most of the live rock are going to live in a 100g stock tank for the time being.
Can I put the anemone (and his two clowns) in the stock tank with 2 tangs (Gold Rim & Tomini), 2 angels (Coral Beauty, Fisheri Cherub), a Yellow Goby, and two Leopard Wrasses? It's 100g and will have a skimmer, heater, etc.
If I put the anemone in there, what kind of lighting should I provide him? He stays about mid level in a tank with 250HQI 20Ks right now. Do I need to set up a halide fixture over the stock tank just for the anemone? Can I get away with less? If so, what recommendations does everyone have?
Should I just give up on this project and sell the nem to a good home? I'd hate to do that because he's been a model citizen and seems quite pleased with his current arrangement, but I don't want to injure/kill him doing all of this moving either!
Thanks in advance,
Ed
