I hope someone from Tunze can help me here...

I purchased two Tunze Aquarium Chillers (AT5000 1/3 Plus) about a year ago for my 350 gal Reef system. One of them seems to have a problem and I need advice on how to fix.

I have been watching the temp reading on both units for a while. One always seemed to read a higher temperature (e.g., one will be 78 degrees and the other will be 80) They are run with independent but identical pumps and the intake plumbing is side by side in my sump. The one that has been reading high finally has gone crazy. It is now reading 115 degrees. The other unit is plugging along and reading about 80. I have a temp gage in the tank that reads 80. So, obviously the one reading 115 has a defective temp gauge. How can this be fixed....and more importantly...can I fix it myself (e.g., with a new gauge from Tunze)? I don't want to ship the unit back and the store I bought it from is now out of business. Please advise...I can provide all the necessary proof of purchases.

Thanks, Dave

Yes, you can fix it yourself, it is the temp probe and it is not too difficult to repair, it has two electrical connectors and it just screws into the tank that houses the chiller coil. Can you PM me your address and phone number?

Roger,

I wanted to get back to you and let you and everyone else in the forum know that Tunze provides Great customer service! Walter from Hughes Industries called me, sent me the part, and provided detailed installation instructions. It was a straight forward and easy fix that took about 15 minutes or so. My AT5000 Chiller is now back up and operational.

While I was inside the unit I took notice of the excellent design and quality workmanship of the chiller. It is a very nice product and I highly recommend it to anyone needing a chiller!

Again, I thank you, Walter and Tunze for your exceptional service...

Dave
