Need Tank and Hood Rec.

Hi,

I want to set up a softie/lps tank with one or two fish (like a small goby or something) in my dorm room. A nano cube would be great, but unfortunately it won't fit, because I've got strict space restrictions. The current tank is a minibow 2.5 which I'm not too fond of because of the lighting restrictions and scrathed glass. The space I have available is 12" deep and 13" high. The length is not really a restriction (it's a bookshelf). Can someone recommend a tank and light ficture (thinking a nice PC kit) that will fit in these dimesnions? I also need to allow room for some kind of hang-on mini skimmer or aquaclear (could you reccomend a mini skimmer too?). But If need be I could put it on the right/left side of the tank since length is not a size restriction. For flow I was thinking about just the return from the skimmer/filter, since there is no room in the tank for added powerheads and I cannot have a sump or refugium per se. I would just place the lps (like a small hammer) nearer to the return. Any and all advice is much appreciated. I've been in the hobby for a few years on and off so I know what I'm doing; I'm just not familiar with the available products anymore. Thanks!

Quick update:

I found a fission protein skimmer for $30 that looks like it could work. I also wanted to mention that I would like the lighting to be a hood that fits the tank. No satellites or anything. I can't have any light coming out from the seems of the hood and the tank. Long story but basically I need to hide the tank

What about a 6G NC? It's dimensions are 12"X13"X12", and can be had for about $120, and can be easily covered with a towel when the people who aren't supposed to see it come in. :p
