Need to borrow a Fish trap & Cherub Angel for sale

Once again I am in need of a fish trap. My cherub angel has gone postal and is attacking my female clown. This is the second time he has been a problem and I think it is time for him to go. He used to be very peaceful and never has nipped corals. But for some reason he decided to take up residence in the same cluster of rocks that the clowns hang out in. So if anyone has a trap I could borrow for a day or so I would appreciate it. And if anyone wants a really pretty but ornery cherub angel $10 and he's yours, otherwise he goes in for store credit.

I cant belive it is doing that. That female clown used to beat the crap out of him. Good luck catching him. He is very fast.

I have a trap that I used to catch my coral beauty. it is one that Bk built for people, it is the larger model. I am not too close to you but you can borrow it if you don't get any closer offers.

I want to build one to get my BUD out of my reef. Do you have any pictures? I found a few on google but no good images.

Thx

Nick say the word and Ill come by with some tiny line and a size 22 scud pattern all you'll need to do is hold the net. :p

Hey JJ! Good to know you are alive. Thanks for the offer, but I think BK's trap will do the trick.

mine took a good week, and I still had to entice him to go in there. I could get every fish in there but the one I wanted it seemed like. Just have patience and you will get him.

Got him! The diamond goby was in there and took a big bite of the mysis and I was about to get up to go get another chunk when one little shrimp must have caught his eye and he went in. I yanked the fishing line that was tied to the post hold the trap door open so hard it broke, but luckily he started freaking out and got all confused and swam to the back and I had time to get around the wall and trip it by hand. He has been banished to the fuge until he finds his way to Schplitters.

While this thread is still up and we have at least 2 people who have used the traps:

What could/should be different about the trap?

Any ideas on how we could make this more of a automated thing?

Thank you,

BK

The only suggestion I would have might not be relevant. depending on the rubber band, if it is a tight band, it causes the door to torque to the side when up. I only had 2 rubber bands in my house and they we both really strong so when I put the post at the edge of the opening, to make a bigger opening for them to swim through, the door cocked to the side. i was afraid the thing was going to break, it didnt but it might eventually if i keep using the same rubber band. Maybe make a picture frame like contraption to hold the gate open, so they could still swim through but even support the trap door. I dont know.

Automating it would be cool, I sat there for probably 3 hours with the string in my hand.

The one you had there was the 1st one I made and was not the strongest. I did exactly what you said with the other ones. That's why I kept that one for myself. A thin rubber band works best. Just something to get the door going. When I first built this thing I used a strong really thick band and it snapped off the bottom of the trap. It's a good way to kill a fish too lol.
