need to ID a starfish

no pic right now...it was referred to as a "lelly?" It's bright red and the tentacles look like feathers...beautiful...ring a bell?

Sounds like a Feather Star or a Basket Star. Does it look anything like these?

Very few survive even in large mature tanks. There was a recent thread by a fellow in Brazil who beat the odds & had successfully raised a couple but he is the exception.

Does anyone know where I could aquire one of these basket stars. I had one when I first started. He lived for two years (didnt survive a move) Awesome creature!

Not sure if I can post a link to a supplier... but try: sea life inc.net (just leave out the spaces). I know he has them listed as being in stock. Basket stars are listed under starfish ...

I have been thinking about getting one for myself... just haven't decided for sure yet since I have heard the survival rate isn't that good.
