need to move maxima

i have a small maxima that is attached to a rock.problem is i cant move the rock but need to move the clam to make room for some sps corals.is there a way i can cut him off safely without killing him?

dont move the clam- find a different home for your SPS. I know that sounds short, but your tempting fate by movong a clam for a non-essential reason. If you really HAVE TO move it, just take a sharp razor blade, and cut the byssal threads as far from the clam as possible.

Once again, I would suggest not moving an attached clam for aesthetic reasons.
