Need to sterilize trash cans?

I plan on mixing up my saltwater in large trashcans. I heard you need to sterilize them first with Chlorox? Any experience with this? Thanks.

If they are new then a simple RO/DI rinse will suffice. I wouldn't recommend using old cans.

What about my new tank? It's full of dust and what-not. Use vinegar? Tap water? RO/DI water?

just wipe down first for the majority, then clean with tap.

Clean with RO/DI not tap. Tap water will leave hard water spots on you tank.
