Need truck help

Hi, So I know some of you are auto people and was wondering if anyone can give me a hand this afternoon? I am trying to replace my rear bumper, but I cannot provide enought torque with my socket wrench set to remove the main bolts.

Is there an app for this?

Seriously what is the best thing to do. Find someone with a power tool? Can I use a tire iron?

Also the bumper and rear bumper assembly is not put together and comes with a crap load of extra bolts. I cannot find a assemly guide on the internet. Would one of those auto parts manuals have information on this?

Any help or advise would be great. Thanks

first use wd-40 and let it sit for a while the use a wrench and find a pipe that will fit over it and use the leverage to break the bolts free. if you cant find a pipe, use two box/open ended wrenches. the first wrench put the boxed end on the nut, the second wrench you can use the boxed end on the open end of the first wrench to extend the handle. i don't like using sockets with this stuff cause you can strip the gears inside.

on the assembly, i dont know if a haynes or chiltons will cover that. is it for an aftermarket bumper, chevy ford front or back?

sorry i am going to the lake and cant help this afternoon, but i should be on here most of the day off and on if i can help any further.

eat some wheaties nancy and get the bolts off!!!

Its an after market bumper... but thanks this helps tremendously. I think if I can get the old bumper off I can look at it and figure out how the bracket assembly works.

I did not want to give it all I had becuase I think between the bolt, me, and the socket wrench it would have been the socket wrench that busted. I think I have a monkey wrench and will buy a pipe.

if you were in cruces you could stop by and use my pnuematic tools. that would make the job easier. or if you want to show up some time next week i could help you out.

Thanks for the help. I managed to get the big bolts off only to realize I did not have a deep enough socket wrench for the others....Doh.....

Anyway had a hitch put on and the uhaul guys swapped my old bumper for my new one for an extra $40. Prolly not a good deal, but they transferred my license plate for free!

Haha

Thanks guys

puffin04, make up our minds here. you post and say liquid wrench 1+ and now you want to tell us you are more of a WD-40 kinda guy. I really don't think you know what kinda guy you are.

Liquid wrench is like 8 dollars a can. Just throwing out that idea if he wanted to try it. Another thing i have tried is heating up bolts as well with success. I guess i am a heat fan as well. :)

BFH works well at times. Freeze off works really well also. Not that it matters now cuz the job is done. But I just wanted to give puffin04 a hard time about it.

For really stubborn bolts I have found that two BFH's and some Alcohol works every time.

Oh yea, don't forget the lubricant for the bolts, let the lub work while using the alcohol...

I am a huge fan of this! Works every time!!! :)
