Need volunteers this Sat, Jan 17th

Looking for volunteers to help out at South Plantation High School.

I'll be meeting up with Carey Holder this Saturday at 9am to do some work on the tanks. We will be installing a donated SpectraPure R/O system as well as installing other donated equipment provided by FMAS.

This is your chance to give back and help out.

For those who don't know:
Many of our meetings and events are held at South Plantation High School. The school has a magnet program where the students have hands on experience with saltwater and freshwater fish tanks. There are about 30 tanks of various sizes up to 1000gal. There's even one in the principals office. FMAS supplies them with free saltwater each month. We also have a mentor program matching FMAS members with SPHS students to help them with marine fishtank related senior projects.

I'm working with Carey to set up additional dates (probably sat or sun since that's when I'm off) Please let me know if you are interested in a particular date.

Firemedix911: Do you have a fixture for those T8's? Do you have bulbs? How long are they? The school has NO T8 fixtures so I would have to buy the bulbs if you dont have them. Sadly, the school is about 10-15 years behind us in fishtank technology.

I will also be looking for volunteers to help out over the summer months.

During the school year the students handle the general maintenance of the tanks (water changes, cleaning, top off, testing...etc) Carey is not able to handle all the tanks over the summer months and some end up almost completely neglected. I was hoping to find volunteers that would be willing to spend a few hours on a sat or sun during the summer months to help Carey out. Anything would be appreciated.

Lets all use this opportunity when done to join us at our membership drive at Tony Vargas grand opening....please dont loose track of the larger picture....without memberships programs like this wonderful one for the students wouldnt be possible or exist......
