I went and bought two tanks, 54G Corner and 40G for $1/gal sale price.

Anyway, what I need to do with 40g is to add the sump/refugium inside it by adding the wall near the rear glass. I am not sure where to start. The reason is that I plan to put it on the kitchen counter which is why I didn't get the overflow type, sump, and stand.

Refugium design (DIY)

I had designed the refugium as shown below. Any correction? Any changes?

The fake black wall will be 5" away from rear glass 'cuz Tunze DOC Skimmer is 4.9" x 4.4". Will the business 'Tap Plastic' will do the cuttings?

I figured it in the measurements.

The teeth will be 3" deep and 5" wide. The skimmer area will be 5"x6". The spaces between baffers will be 1". The return pump area will be 5"x5". The plumbing size is unknown. I plan to use the adjustable head nozzle on the return pipe. If the return pump isn't strong enough, I plan to add some closed loop system.

I don't know the recommandation on the return pump for it.

I would Imagine that you are going to use plexi for the innerwall. The baffles will serve as mid point bracing for the wall as well. You will deffinately need more flow in that tank then just the return. I reccomend 2 maxi jet mods for a 40 gallon. Flow is just as important as light. The design looks good. If you are going to have macro algae then you may need to divise some sort of strainer in the baffle to keep the macro in the fuge.
