ya i was going to get it that way but someone didn't return the 30 gal. jug they had. so if i bought some of the 5 gal. it would take me about a week to fill my tank!

I LOVE my unit from AWI it's the Typhoon III google for it cause I can't post the website here on RC

It's $200.00 and if you mention RC they give you a free float valve. I can't say enough about my unit. We use it for drinking water as well.

I have a cheap E-bay unit. Has been running for two (maybe three) years with no filter changed yet. Only thing changed has been the DI resin. I am probably due for filters change. I have been happy with the unit.

I have the same one, but with the dual DI chambers. Mine has been running for 6 months and I am still getting 0.0 TDS on the output.

John - what is your tap water TDS? Mine is around the 750 range. However, I have measured as high as 900 before. I have been debating on adding on an addition DI filter and also plumbing my system so that the waste water is used to water some of my outdoor plants.

I put off buying a RO/DI for as long as I could. Finally broke down & got mine from air water ice. Didn't get free float valve & didn't get the supposed-to-be-included TDS meter. But good instructions were included, & it was a cinch to set up.

Can't see any improvement in my critters - but I guess the peace of mind is a good thing. When I get over being mad about it, I'll break down & buy a TDS meter. Then I can measure the difference in my TDS & feel good about it.
