I have a Green tipped purple bubble anemone and its been in the tank a few weeks. My snowflakes hang out inches away from it but have not hosted it yet.
Any way to "help" this event to happen? Tried feeding them close to it - they just dont go in it.
BTA is not a natural host to Occe clowns, so time is your best bet my friend. Just give it time and if they decide they like it enough they'll move in, if not, then they won't.
I do believe the BTA is a natural host for the maroon. With that being said, I have a pair of oscelaris in my 75g and it took them almost a year before they hosted the BTAs in there but the picasso in my 14g biocube ran into the BTA in there in about a week. Its a crap shoot for sure, but just give it time.
Yeah my GF makes fun of me when I do it. It's silly but works. When it happens it's like a parent seeing his/her child take the first step walking. Ha.
Clownfish typically will copy behaviors they see in other clowns. If yours wont host in an anemone (most tank raised ones naturally wont) just go online and find a picture of clowns hosting in an anemone. Print it out and tape it on the front of the glass across from the anemone. Within a week or 2 they will get the idea. I have done the successfully twice.
