neon dottyback spitting sand all over!!!

I've noticed my neon dottyback getting mouthfuls of sand from the back of the tank, then spitting it out over top of several of my corals. Is this normal? Is it looking for pods? Its also dug a large hole underneath my xmas tree rock. Anybody have any idea what this behavior might be?:strooper:

making a home or dart hole -- no big deal my damsel does that ...I think it shows intelligence

My springeri pseudo did the same thing for a few days, then opted for a nice hole in a rock as a home instead.
