Does anyone know any LFS that have Neon Gobies? My recent one vanished and all the sudden i'm seeing one or two ich parasites on my tang...I dunno if there is a direct correlation between the two, but my water par. are perfect. NH3 - 0, Nitrates are 0, Ca- 450, Alk is 11.0 dKH, Salts at 1.023. And i've never had ich...I've been slacking and havnt hooked up my UV sterilizer, but im waiting for my Refugium to stop leaking...(it's been 2 weeks since i expected it to be done) I've always seen my neon Goby cleaning my tangs so i dont know if i have a small case of ich and the goby had been keepin it under control or what.

Marine Warehouse often has them as well if John is out. Did you check if it jumped? Do you have cleaner shrimp? I've never seen a goby actually clean a fish but I know both my shrimp (I have a skunk and a blood shrimp) have done it, though not with any regularity.

slackers imo

Nah, not slackers, just retrained. Once they see food entering a system regularly and scheduled, they become very knowledgable to this fact and will wait for some nasty fish food instead of some nasty parasite. You also have to take into account that we as reefkeepers do eveything in our power to keep our tank parasite free, so there is usually not much on a fish to clean.

UV sterilizer, cleaner gobies, shrimp, wrasses, etc will not cure ich. Ich will live in your tank for weeks even without a host. If there is any fish in there(including a goby) you will never rid yourself of it. It may look like it is getting better or going away, but wait until a small temp swing or something of the sort and you will see it flourish. You can bring ich on with anything, including the lr or the sand, so qt anything before putting it in. Heck, ich can come in on a cleaner goby(go figure). The only way to rid the tank of it(without killing coral) is a qt of all fish in the tank for upwards of 6-8 weeks. They will need to be treated(hyposalinity, copper, etc.) in the separate qt to rid your tank of ich. It sucks, but once you do it, it will be gone, as long as you qt things as they come in. Trust me, I'm not one for all the formalities, I do not practice what I preach, but I do know the steps to rid yourself of bad parasites.

I have cleaner shrimp and blood shrimp....yeah i figured someone would say i woulndt be able to get rid of it...oh well...ill try

I had a skunk cleaner shrimp and blood shrimp. The skunk was lazy so I added a new one 2 days later the old shrimp was cleaning fish in heaven not sure if it died on it's own or the new one killed it. On a happier note the new one cleans my fish all the time

I'm sure you already looked, but I thought I lost mine and a week later I was cleaning my skimmer and I saw him in my sump.

I was shocked to see he didn't get sucked in the pump.....I had to take the whole thing apart and out, but it was for the better anyways, because my skimmer really needed a thorough cleaning.

No I found his dead body. I did one time lose a 6 line wrasse later I found him alive and well in my over flow I rescued the booger and then found him on my floor dried up 6 weeks later. I guess he really wanted out
