Neon Goby Stories

I was wondering if anybody had any stories about neon gobies they'd like to share from experience.

I bought one yesterday, its gotten more friendly with the fish in the tank in the one day and doesnt run from them anymore, and it lives on one side of the bottom of the tank.

I was wondering if it will eventually clean the other fish of parasites, its something that i would really like to see. Anybody know if ALL neons will do this, and in about how long after introduction into the tank ?

I've had a couple in the past. Both died after a couple of months for no apparent reason. Never saw either one clean. Won't probably try to keep them again.

I have 2 mated pairs in a 225 reef and love them. They clean all of my fish and work as cleaners 100% of the time when not swimming around. One of the best fish ever! I have the neon blue and neon gold versions!

I had a pair for a just aobut a year...very rarely cleaned fish..about a month ago one dissappeared...and now the other one is gone...no idea what happened! Cool little fish though...one of my favorites! for 10$ each you cant go wrong

10$ each is great , except theyre $20 or more up here in NJ. I actually saw it cleaning both of my fish, a blue tang and clarkii clown earlier today, Day #2. It won't go near damsels and the damsels harass it. I will try to get a pic but usually when i come up to the tank they break up.

I bought one for my aquarium at work. I've seen it clean my Crowned Sharp Nose Puffer and sometimes my Yellow Streak Wrasse. It's pretty cool to see this little guy ride around my Crowned Sharp Nose Puffer, picking off parasites and etc. :D

I've had one - tanks bred - for 6 months and it cleans all the time and eats anything I feed - flake, mysis, tiny pellets. Great fish.

Recently got a neon for $10 bucks online, so far fish havent let him clean them, but he keeps trying to clean my hand when its in there. Will probably get another one soon.

I have a mated pair, except that now they cant stand each othher. They came shipped in the same bag and hung out together for the first couple of weeks. Then suddenly and overnight, one started to chase the other and now they never hang out together. really puzzling.

I haven't tried to target feed mines, but I would target feed my neon goby if it looks like it can't compete with the others.

My neon blues are always cleaning my yellow tang off !!!

They are a mated pair as well !!!

Cool little fish !! :D

I feed mine cyclop-eeze and he's over an inch long now, pretty big for a neon, have had him for a year so far...

We've had one for sale at the store for like two months now. Lil bugger's a survivor alrght., He'll eat anything I put in and right out of your and or the feeding syringe.

i love mine. So fat and cleans most of my larger fish. Powder blue, moorish idol, male lyretail and my angels. Very cool to see the fish lift their gills and watch him go in there.
