Neon Green Star Polyps.

I purchased a small frag of Neon green star polyps about two weeks ago from the LFS. They have been on a rock about two inches from the bottom of my tank. I had a few poke out within te first few days but since then i have had nothing. I bought this frag at the LFS because it looked the best put of the bunch. Button polyps and kenya tree are doing fine and are not near them at all.
Temp-76-79
Salinity -1.025
Ammonia-0
Nitrites-0
Nitrates-5 or less
PH- 8.2
Mushrooms are doing great that I bought at the same time.
I have read they like more light and i have read they like less light right now they are in about the same light they were at the LFS. should i move it to my refugium where they are closer to the surface nearer the light or leave them be. They have not started to die off that I can tell.

These corals are notorious for not opening for weeks after being placed in a new system.

I bought these on a plug and it seems like the center of the plug is thinning/ or dieing i am not sure but the edge of the plug seems like its not connected to the plug as it was. Will these move if they are not happy where they are or am i just hoping for the best. I dont have the picture of the plug from when i first put it in to compare but it looks like they arent getting better or bigger. I love the way they looked at the LFS i hope they arent dieing and im just being paranoid. any ideas?

Indirect flow I assume or do they not care? And if they are In a low light area will they still come out? LFS Had some in high light and another frag in the shadows of some live rock and both of the frags looked about the same. I am just starting to worry because it's been almost a month and I haven't seen them out at all. And I think the frag in receding but am not sure.

whats your other parameters......Alk, Cal and Mag. How old is the tank.
What size tank and what lights you running.

Alk is 8.8
I don't have calc, mag, test kits. But my lfs told me that since my mushrooms, button polyps, and Xenia tree were fine that the gsp would be fine.

I have lost GPSs in the past due to low PH not high but if you can stabilize your ph and now it's time to start testing for alk, mag, and cal.....

My ph is stable it's always 8.2 the highest I have ever seen it is 8.4 is that not where it should be for a saltwater tank?

If you go up a few posts the alk is 8.8 and I don't have the kits or the other 2 but like I said my lfs guy is a reef junkie and he told me that if my shrooms, polyps and Xenia were doing good that the gap would be fine. I'm just not seeing them open or grow or anything.

It is a 75 gallon tank and it is 10 months old i was just using a ecoxotic stunner strip led because my xenia did not like the double bright marineland led. I took it off and everything is doing fine. I did however put it back on and tried to focus it mainly on the GSP to see if it is a light issue. I am looking at gertting a current USA orbit marine reef led light. I plan on just keeping softies so i figured it would be adequate. I posted the other stuff I am trying to find a Cal, Mag test kit that i can pick up and check it. Is it odd that everything else is doing ok or would the gsp be the only thing effected by cal, or mag.??

I think it might be like Trinidiver said once in a while they can close up if you move or a snail or hermit is cleaning it. But you should start testing alk plus mag and cal.....

In my experience, GSP take a while to get used to move, then stay open almost all the time. Mine took over a week to start opening, and probably a month to really get full extension. Now, they stay open all day, and don't close until late at night.

I have had them or a month and they have not opened once since bringing them home. And the center of the plug is kid of getting flat and it wasn't like that when I bought it so I'm worried they are dieing.

I'd let them be- they'll open when they are ready. Mine took months- and I mean months to open after I introduced them. They are in high light/ flow and have grown from 3 "polyps" to an encrusted plate that has grown over most of my corner overflow.

You wouldn't be worried about the frag thinning out in the center?? It used to be all polyps and the center if the frag has kind of went flat/ or receded. That's when I started to worry.
