What are the differences between the two?

Apex Lite and Apex

All i know there is a huge price difference.

There is a bit more to the lite vs the non lite version than what comes in the box. The lite doesnt have built in variable speed ports if I am not mistaken. There are also some other differences between the two. You would get better answers in the neptune forum in the sponsor section. The Apex Jr is coming out very soon and that could be another option if you are on a major budget.

Slief is correct about the variable speed ports. Also the Apex can monitor ORP which I believe the Lite cannot do without an additional module. I have the Lite and like it quite a bit.

+1

Lite doesnt have the 2 0-10 volt ports and only has 1 pH port.

The full apex has the ports and a extra pH/orp port.

Overall unless your going to run dimable LED's or controllable tunzes, or have to have a second pH port the lite is great.

Plus you can always add that functionality later if needed.

how do you guys like the wavemaker/pump controller functions for each? I read the shortest interval is 1 minute cycles...

You can controls pumps down to the second. Right now i use simple alternating of one pump running at 100 while the other drops to 30% every 20 seconds. The thing limited to one minute right now is the ramp function.
