Networking query?

I was wondering, if i wanted to connect 3 profilux's to a network hub, how do i connect to each one through the software? Is it a case of manually connecting to each one? Or is it possible to connect to one but be able to switch to the sensor data from each one without doing anythign else?
Thanks

Hiya

Yes you can network them together but the controllers will stay independant from each other and you simply log onto which controller you wish to view through the software.

Matthias can give you the full details of the topology and hardware required

Naturally this will change with the advent of the PIII

The problem im getting at the moment is i have set up and RS232 and a TCP/IP connection for all 3 computers, i can connect reliably with RS232 but the connection to any of the profilux's over TCP/IP is hit and miss at best. I have checked all cables and i can ping all three ghl's, i can if i go to the menu at the top and click connect see all 3 ip addresses liated as found profiluxs on the network but again its hit and miss if it connects. All three have unique IP addresses in a suitable range and all 3 are designated differently but one minute i can connect to one, the next i cant. Its a bit odd and i want to be able to use TCP/IP so i can use the view2 screens on the actual systems.

Cables all check out ok,
Router Checks out ok,
Computer is running ok,
All GHL's are pinging ok,

I can connect to all of them, every time with software version 3.0.8.1 but only very occasionally with version 4.0.3.0, Could it be a software fault Or is there something i am missing in the settings??

3.0.8.1 was installed after version 4.0.3.0 and now for some reason there appears to be no manual overide for things like the lighting scenarios

you can't mix 3.x and 4.x

if you have firmware 4.x you must use ProfiLuxControl 4.x (same for 3.x)

-> I would update PC software & firmware to the latest version

PC Software is updated, firmwares are updated now. Still having the problem, is there a set period of time you need to leave between disconnecting from one unit and connecting to another using TCP/IP?

fixed IP addresses on a standalone network with an 8 port hub.
127.16.0.1 - 127.16.0.2 and 127.16.0.3 for the profs and 127.16.0.5 for the main pc. all static.
Its always possible to ping them and get a perfect response, and like i said, when using software 3.x connection was perfect every time even with the newer firmware, just the 4.x software just doesnt seem to want to reliably connect. Im puzzled!

I have not many ideas at the moment.
It seems this becomes a little more specific, so please contact me directly via email for further support.
We will post the results here after we found a solution.
