Networking, Routers and IPcam = PIA Help in Crystal Lake area?

Well like the title states. Last night I spent 2 hours on the phone getting my RKE NET module to work with our router so I could see my system outside of my home network. It was a PIA for the networking person on the other end of the phone but they finally worked through it and mainly because they were using remote support to control my PC.
Well now that I have the NET module live on the internet I would like to get my wireless IPcamera going so I can visually monitor my tank outside of my network. I played around for 5 hours so far and cant seem to make it work. I can see the camera within my network but just dont seem to have enough knowledge to set the router and camera correct for outside the network.

Is there any networking gurus on here from the Crystal Lake area that might be able to sort this out for me. If there is shoot me a price to set these two up!

Some info:
camera is a Panasonic BL-C230
router is a 2wire (ATT DSL Service)

Thanks in advance.
Wes

The cam doesnt even have to be wireless. It has a wired option and router is 5 foot from the tank. I can see the cam fine in the home network. I just cant seem to get it through the firewall with port forwarding etc etc. I already have a ddns url that I use for my NET module. So I should be able to use that URL but with a different port #........I think.
Man networking is confusing to people like me! lol

Do believe you will need to add your cams ip to the router. Is your routers ip, 192.168.1.254? You can maybe try and change the port in there?

I dont remember the IP of the router off the top of my head. I can get in and tried adding it but between it and the settings on the camera I just cant get it. The camera has a ton of options and i dont know which one is the correct to use with the router. Therefore I think its a combination of the 2 that I dont have right causing it not to work.

Jfuka78 - Go to no-ip (dot) c0m and register and sign up for a ddns. Download the small client for your computer. Use the url you sign up for with the port you assign to access it.

example : this is what mine looks like http://crny1reef.zapto.org:4040

the crny1reef is what I signed up for. The zapto.org was one of the choices when I signed up and 4040 is the port i used for the module.

Of course I changed the url from my actual url but it serves as a good example

I meant I might be able to help you. Sounds like a port issue. There might ba an easier run around though.. what OS are you running?

Ive worked with 2wires for att. I hate to say it but they are the worst for remote access. You need to make sure your ports are forwarded and working then use a ddns with an updater service via your desktop to keep you connected when 2wire changes the ip. If anything, shoot me a pm and i can assist you as much as i can. Wiz ;)
