I have just used my Calcium test kit (which I got yesterday) for the first time. I have never added calcium to my reef, but it shows 430 ppm. Does this sound right? I have Aragonite as the substrate. I bought Kalkwasser recently, but I don't know if I need to use it. I feel like a newb now :D lol. Advice in greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Lev.

Measure a fresh batch of salt water and see what it reads.

Maybe your system isn't using up much calcium yet.

Its like a camp fire.If the base of the fire is huge and full of coals then it will burn up the wood real quik.Kinda like your reef.If you dont have a lot of hard corals, snails, clams etc..then the calcium wont get absorbed as fast.If you do regular water changes and dont have a heavy coral load then the calcium shouldnt drop much.:)

Salt is normal, 1.028. I use Instant Ocean. I do not have any hard corals or clams, so i guess It is because of the frequent water changes I do. Thanks. :D
