I think businesses should cater to the customer, especially when they are in there buying items. It sounds pretty simple, but when I have just set merchandise on the counter that I want to purchase and asked where the restroom, this store tells me "we don't have" a restroom. There are other customer-friendly businesses/aquarium stores that I can go to and spend my money that will allow me to use the restroom. My 5-year-old even asked me "where do they use the restroom?"

when in doubt whip it out.

ive never been to this store before but thanks for the info i find it hard to believe there is no bathroom. even for customers

well as a customer that is making a purchase i would expect to be able to use the restroom.if you were just some guy who walked in to goto the bathroom that would be different.once they told me they dont have a bathroom i would of left the store without the purchase.

I dont know anything about that store but here is a thought.

If you owned the store and only had one restroom, would you want to share it with dozens a people a day... those who do not flush, those who cannot aim, and so forth? I understand not wanting everyone to use it... but at the end of the day, it didnt matter to the store because you purchased the stuff you had didn't you?

It's one thing to say - yes we have a bathroom but it's for employees only. But to say we don't have one "Lie" about it - what's that about? Just say it's for employees only - there are a lot of bathrooms I'd rather not have gone into - like don't let any part of my body touch anything - :worried:

Yea, I agree reefartist. I was at a LFS (not local to here) and while my wife was pregnant, she asked to use the restroom (getting kicked in bladder does that apparently :) and the LFS told her no, so I never went back.... before that, I use to go and I would guess spent close to $1k a year at the store. Not only that but when you talk to other reefers, you suggest other stores so it will cost them thousands a year....

Didn't Purchase

Didn't Purchase

No, I didn't purchase anything. I left it on the counter after they said that and left--bought some of my stuff at PetCo where they did have a bathroom. Yes, saying it's for employees only is one thing, saying they don't have one is just an annoying lie that belittles the customer's intelligence.

Personally have been to some employee-only restrooms with my young one when she was in desperate need (many places fortunately understand when children have to go) and can tell you there are some I wouldn't want to ever visit again--nasty.

It matters a lot to me when I have one of my children with me when they have to go and the employees let us use their restroom. It's funny now that I'm a parent: I can still deal with people if I think they might be getting too good of a deal from me; not helping out when there is a little one involved...that makes me MAD >:[ ...grrrr

Like I say about all my LFS visits...it's all about CUSTOMER SERVICE. I tell my guys at the shop, "If we don't take care of our customers, someone else will."

I've never been there, but maybe it's a technicality? They might have a bathroom, a water closet, a head, lavatory, latrine, a john or a crapper... but they may not have a restroom..?

It's funny what some people complain about.

Yes it does - if it's not something that concerns you - you then think it's insignificant. If you don't have a "problem" or don't have kids then no it would not be of any concern to you. Ever have your 4 year old pee his pants because you couldn't get to the capper fast enough - then you would understand.

When I lived up north they had a guy who did reviews of all the LFS in the area. That be funny if someone did that here and added.. "restroom available" to the list.

Hey like mflamb said "Customer Service", it should be part of every stores "Bottom Line". Keeps you in the store longer :D.

I'll begin to ask that question. And I have used the facilities at Rockin' Reef, FAOIS, Aquarium Architecture, and Eco Reef Aquariums in Pompano Beach.
A restroom available to patrons of a business is just plain CUSTOMER SERVICE.

cant really blame them ,do u like to clean urine off the floor seats or where ever else people manage to urinate or better yet picking up bloody tampons off the floor because they cant manage to put it in the trash a few feet away

watch when I have my fish store someday...

my customer's bathroom s'gonna kick butt. :D

Gee...I'm sure that happens everyday. We average about 540 customers per week through our shop, all who have access to a restroom near our waiting room and sandwich shop. That doesn't include the customers that visit our parts dept or our Enterprise Rental office, which both are off the same waiting room. We have no problem keeping it clean, because that's part of CUSTOMER SERVICE. If another shop won't let you use their restroom, come use mine. I'll clean up after you.

How is it that only one person here took the side of the LFS? The store isn't that big, and consequently only has one restroom for employee use only. It is not uncommon for a business to have a restroom for employee use only... go to any store in the mall or at an outlet mall. Why is that that all the sudden the employees of the store are jerks for politely telling a customer that the restroom is not for public use? All but one of you took the word of an irate, self righteous customer (as this town is full of)...

Holy Crap...I live in a town of irate self righteous customers...I'm going to have to move!!! Ok I'm back from the restroom, that move is over. It's just no big deal to let someone use the restroom at an LFS. It's not like the mall where there are people who want to use the restroom, but not patronize the store. If someone is in a LFS, they are there for the LFS. If they set merchandise on the counter, I kind of think that they are patronizing the store. That's called $$$, and if you have to spend 5 minutes MAX to clean up after someone who leaves $$$ in your store, then what's the big deal???
