i am starting up a 10g reef tank. this will be my first venture into the SW realm, though i have had some experience with FW. i wanted to get some advice on my proposed setup.
10g tank (already have)
AquaClear 300 filter (probably will stick some LR rubble in it, dont know if i will go full out fuge mod yet)
Maxijet 900 (may add another PH down the line)
Current USA Satellite 20" 40w
50w Hydor Theo heater (already have)
Coralife digital thermometer (already have)
need suggestion on a good test kit
10 lbs sand
8-10 lbs LR

Proposed livestock:
1-2 false percs
pistol shrimp/goby pair
maybe one more small fish if theres enough room?
cleanup crew

i would like to keep some mushrooms and maybe some zoos and soft corals, none of the higher maintanence higher light corals. i'm mainly interested in the mushrooms, i seem to prefer the looks of those more than most of the other corals.

so am i on the right path? or do you have any suggestions?

i have 3 fish in my 10. 1 clown, a yellow tail damsel and a lawn mower blenny. they are fine in there, but i have more like 28-30lbs of live rock...

Looks like a good setup.

You're going to want more light. I say go with a 2x40w fixture. I have been running one on my 10g for 5 months and couldn't imagine having anything less. My zoas and mushrooms LOVE it!
